I’m Aaron Mekonnen, a software engineer with a background in backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and platform engineering. I’ve built and operated services on AWS and GCP, from distributed systems to containerized applications and deployment pipelines.

My work includes Kubernetes infrastructure, observability and alerting, and tools that help engineers deploy and debug systems. I’ve also built conversational AI applications, retrieval systems, and agent workflows for investigating production failures.

Current focus

I’m interested in the infrastructure that makes AI systems practical to operate. That includes understanding model usage and cost, choosing how requests are routed, and making failures visible and recoverable. I’m exploring these questions through the lens of backend engineering and distributed systems.
